This Friday, there was a lesson in Haiku poetry for us.  According to the brief

Haiku poetry is a very short, centuries-old form of Japanese poetry that is an intriguing change of pace from the kind of rhythmic, rhyming poetry you’re used to reading. Haiku is like a photo that captures the essence of what’s happening, often connecting two seemingly unrelated things.

Traditionally, Haiku poetry has a total of 17 syllables broken down into three chunks of 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables again.Working in groups, we are supposed to come up with a Haiku type one liner with three chunks for the following products/services:

  • Spam (tinned meat)
  • A second Hand car showroom
  • A Funeral plan
  • The NHS
  • A Church
  • A pension plan
  • A payday loan company
  • An own brand cola
  • An online gambling site

We were not restricted to 17 syllables, but had to be concise.

Following are the few Haiku promotions that I came up with in my group:

BouncerA payday Loan Company –

Take it and be happy, don’t need to return it, until you get your pay.

WalkerA Pension Plan –

No sir I insist, even if you don’t want it now, you’ll need it in the future.

Slap to the FaceWowcha!

Back home, a new laptop, found a cheaper deal on it, Wowcha!

Waitrose ColaAn own Brand Cola –

HomelessAn online gambling site –
