An App for the Pet Lovers
PetFunday is a mobile app (iOS & Android) and a website which gives access to various resources targeted at Pet Parents.
A group of pet lovers came to our agency, I admire these people because they were extremely organised. They had their research in place and within a few brain-storming sessions they were down to two potential names for the product – “PET BUDDYY” and “PET FUNDAY”
Eventually, PETBUDDYY was scrapped because of the extra ‘Y’ at the end, as it would be hard to memorise by people in general. Finally we had a new client by the name of “Pet Funday”

For The Page
In majority of my projects I was guided by my creative director, but this was one of the projects in which I had full freedom. Club this freedom with my love for animals and you find a highly motivated individual. I took inspiration from my surroundings and created an initial design. The clients in PetFunday, appreciated the design, yet they felt that something was missing. I conducted a session with them to understand and identify the missing elements, and with the new inputs went back to the drawing board.
The FUN type
My next design was more colourful and incorporated a beautiful parrot on the dog’s head. The parrot’s tail made for the dog’s ear. Going by my instincts I decided to use a wild type for this option. The name PETFUNDAY can be pronounced in two ways – PET-FUNDAY and PET-FUN-DAY.
FUNDAY is a street slang for Philosophy in Punjabi, mostly spoken and understood in North India. PET-FUN-DAY means a day of fun with your pet.
In either selection ‘FUN’ was the keyword here, I decided to use some wild type lettering. The slab serif reinforces the horizontal lines between which the characters sit. If we break up those lines by moving and rotating the characters slightly, it gets highlighted because of the slab serifs, which is clearly visible in smaller sizes also. This gives the logo an appearance of playfulness, like some cute animal has been running over the characters.
